Why homeowners choose hardwood
Character that ages well
Wood develops a warm patina over time. Minor wear blends in, especially on wire-brushed and hand-scraped styles.
Lasts for decades
With basic care, a quality hardwood floor stays beautiful for decades and outlasts most other floors.
Easy to keep clean
Hardwood doesn’t hold dust and pet hair the way carpet does. A dry mop and a hard-floor vacuum keep it looking sharp.
Buyers look for it
Hardwood is a feature many home buyers search for, and real wood helps a listing stand out.

Hardwood in San Antonio homes: what to know
Concrete slabs
Many homes in the area sit on concrete slabs. Engineered hardwood is usually the better fit, since it can be glued down or floated over the slab with the right moisture barrier.
Heat and humidity
Wood expands and shrinks with humidity. Running your A/C steadily and leaving the right expansion gap at the walls helps prevent gaps and cupping.
Strong sun
Direct Texas sun can fade or darken wood over time. Window coverings help protect the floor and keep the color more even across the room.
Pets
Harder species and matte or wire-brushed finishes hide claw marks better than soft woods with a high-gloss finish.
Hardwood flooring questions
How long does hardwood floor installation take?
The install itself often takes a day or two, depending on the size of the project and the prep needed. Hardwood usually needs to acclimate for at least 24 hours before installation, though some products may require as little as 12 hours. The exact acclimation time depends on the flooring and conditions in your home, so ask us on the call for the specific requirement for your floor. We install most floors within 1 week of purchase.
Can hardwood go over a concrete slab?
Engineered hardwood can. It’s glued down or floated over the slab with a moisture barrier. Solid hardwood needs a wood subfloor, so it isn’t a good match for most slabs.
Is hardwood a good choice for kitchens?
It can work if you wipe up spills right away, but it doesn’t handle standing water. For kitchens, laundry rooms, and bathrooms, luxury vinyl or porcelain tile holds up better.
Which hardwood is best for dogs?
Choose a harder species, like hickory or oak, with a matte or wire-brushed finish. These show fewer scratches than soft woods with a glossy finish.
Do you repair damaged hardwood boards?
Yes. We can replace damaged or broken boards. Keep leftover boards from your install to make matching easier. See our floor repair services.
How much does hardwood flooring cost?
The price depends on the wood, the plank width, and the size of your space. Visit the showroom or call (210) 509-8551 for a free quote with the flooring and installation priced together.
